Paul A. Redmond

Chairman of the board and Chief Executive Officer



Paul A. Redmond is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Washington Water Power. During the course of his career with the company, Redmond has emerged as an active and effective leader, both in business and the utility industry.

Redmond began his career at Washington Water Power after graduating from Gonzaga University with degrees in biology and electrical engineering. He held numerous management positions within the company prior to being elected assistant vice president in 1978. He was elected senior vice president for operations in 1979, and executive vice president and member of the board of directors in 1980. Two years later he was elected president and chief operating officer. In 1985, following the retirement of Wendell J. Satre, Redmond was elected chairman of the board, president, and chief executive officer. Currently, he serves as chairman of the board and chief executive officer.

A prominent figure in business and professional organizations, Redmond is one of the four founding chairmen of Momentum, an organization working to stimulate economic development and the creation of jobs in the Spokane area. He is past chairman of the Pacific Coast Gas Association, the Washington Health Care Commission, and co-chaired the Washington State Economic Development Board with Governor Booth Gardner. Currently he serves as chairman of the Washington Roundtable, chairman of the board of ITRON, Inc. and is a member of the board of U.S. Bancorp. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Washington.

Redmond has been actively involved in the community in a variety of service and civic organizations. He is past chairman of the Spokane area Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Spokane Lilac Festival Association and a former campaign chairman and past president of United Way of Spokane County.

A retired Lt. Colonel in the Washington Air National Guard, he is a former commander of the 105th Tactical Control Squadron and recipient of the Air Force Commendation Medal. He and his wife, Barbara, have three grown children and two grandchildren.
