Laird Noh has served in the Idaho Senate since 1981, and as chairman of the Resources and Environment
Committee since 1983. In that position, Senator Noh has engaged in the review of economic studies on controversial
resource and environmental issues, and has utilized their results in the policy making process. Noh is currently serving
on the Special Legislative Committee on Electrical Utility Deregulation, and was recently instrumental in gaining legislative
approval for the Committee to hire outside economic counsel.
Senator Noh obtained his BS in business and agriculture from the University of Idaho and an MBA from the University of
Chicago. He has taught courses in economics principles at Boise Junior College for two years.
Since 1965 Laird Noh has been president of Noh Sheep Company, a fifth generation sheep ranching operation which
utilizes National Forest, BLM and private lands. Prior to his election to the Idaho legislature he was active in natural resource
policy issues at the local, state and national level.
