Mike Martin Serves as Dean for the College of Agricultural, Food, and Environmental Sciences;
Associate Director for the Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station and retains his professorship in
the Department of Applied Economics. Mike came to the University of Minnesota
as the Associate Dean for Research for the College of Agricultural, Food, and
Environmental Sciences and Assistant Director of the Minnesota Agricultural
Experiment Station in 1992.
Prior to assuming this position at Minnesota, he served 15 years on the
faculty of Oregon State University's Department of Agricultural and
Resource Economics (including two one-year leaves at the Humphrey
Institute-U of M and the University of Hawaii).
He holds a B.S. and M.A. in economics from Mankato State University
and a Ph.D. in applied economics from the University of Minnesota. His
Professional interests include: agricultural policy, trade and rural
development. He has received several notable awards including: the
Oregon State University-College of Agricultural Science, Savery
Outstanding Young Faculty Award, and the Registry of Distinguished
Teachers Award, from the School of Agriculture, Oregon State
University.
